Planning the Guest List for a Baby Shower
Hosting any kind of party can be a bit stressful
, but when it comes to a baby shower the last thing you want is for it to be stress inducing. You want to be relaxed from the moment you put the baby shower invitations in the mail until the last guest leaves your house after the party. The good news is that you can easily accomplish this with just a little bit of planning.
One of the hardest things when hosting a baby shower is coming up with an appropriate guest list. The mother-to-be is a friend of yours, and between you there is a circle of friends that you have in common. Then there are the family members of the mother-to-be, which could include her mother, sisters, and even her mother-in-law. And if you have been friends for a long time, your friend might also be close with your mother, and maybe even your sisters as well. As you start to add it up, this could be a pretty large group of people. You don't want to leave anyone out, but you also don't know that you can handle such a large crowd.
If you really can't have such a large group of people because you don't have enough room in your home, you have a couple of options. The first is to find some other facility where you can hold the party. One choice might be to go to a local restaurant that has a large room available. The other option is to reduce the guest list to a size that you can manage. Keep in mind that not everyone who receives a baby shower invitation will be able to attend the party, so you can invite a few more than you expect to attend.
Of course, if you really want to have the shower at your house, and still invite everyone, there is one other option that is somewhat extreme. You could hold two different baby showers with two different guest lists. One way to do this would be to have one shower for the circle of friends that you and the mother-to-be share, and the other shower for family members. As you think all of this through, and try to resolve the best approach to take, be sure to keep in mind that the event is really for the new mother. You just might want to discuss this with her prior to sending out the baby shower invitations.
