Online Dating Tips - What To Put In Your Online Dating Profile
Different online dating sites ask you for different information
. It is important that no matter what information you put in your profile, that it be honest. If you're fifty dont say in your profile that you're forty. Or even worse, say that youre fifty when youre really seventy and never mention it to your date until you meet. Do you honestly think that your date wont figure this out? I speak from personal experience on this one.
What Im trying to say is this: you are attempting to start a new relationship. A relationship started on lies has a very poor foundation. If youre not even trustworthy in your profile, where else are you not trustworthy?
Above and beyond the honesty aspect of online dating profiles, you need to sell yourself. Put a good picture on your profile that really looks like you. Dont post a picture thats thirty years old. Post other pictures to give your prospective date a real idea of what youre like. You holding a cute puppy may be a little hackneyed but everybody likes people who like cute puppies!
Then theres the headline. Many of the sites like you to come up with a short headline to introduce your profile. Try to come up with something smart thats really YOU. After all, its whats going to catch the eye of other online daters first well, maybe after the photo. If youre a fairly traditional "girl next door" type, why headline yourself as HotSexyBlonde? You will get emails for sure. But are they the kind of emails and people that youre looking for?
Dont choose a negative headline. "Im Not Much to Look At" is not going to draw in dates unless other online daters perceive that headline as funny. Try to be original, positive and sound like youre fun. Because you are, right? If you look through some dating sites youll see what I mean. Some headlines draw you right in while others turn you right off.
Now to the most important part write the kind of essay that makes someone else want to meet you. If youre not a great writer get somebody else to do it for you.
First of all, always keep in mind that youre writing for an audience. If your essay exhibits good spelling and grammar its going to make a better impression than one that doesnt. Like your headline, make it upbeat! Nobody wants to date a whiner. And dont brag. Youll sound like a pompousumjerk, and nobody wants to date one of those either. That doesnt mean you cant say anything nice about yourself either. Be positive but not overboard.
And remember, if you can talk it, you can write it. So think about what youd like someone to know about you and then think about what youd like to know about that person and then write it. Write as if youre talking directly to the person whos reading your profile.
