The body will naturally fluctuate one or two pounds from day to day. This can be because of changes in bone minerals, lean tissue(muscles), the amount of fluid in you, or what is in the bladder.

It is also dependent on the time of day that you weigh yourself. People naturally weigh less in the morning. This is important for someone on a weight loss program to realize. You can use this knowledge to your advantage.

If you are trying to lose weight then make sure to measure yourself in the morning at the same time. This will allow you to have consistent and fairly accurate results. If you measure yourself at all times of the day then you are going to have many different fluctuations depending on your activity and what you ate during the day. Big changes in weight are not necessarily from fat itself, or at all.

How many pounds someone loses is dependent on how they lose it. There are many ways in which you can "lose" weight quickly only to have it return to you much later. Losing weight in this manner is not recommended or healthy for you. Some examples of losing weight in this manner are as following.

Taking a diuretic. A diuretic is a water pill and it basically forces your body to push out more water from your body than it normally would. It does this by having the kidneys siphon out extra water from the blood into the urine.

Cutting weight is another example. For those that don't know cutting weight, it is what wrestlers, boxers, mma fighters and other martial artists as well as body builders do to lose weight. They will work out at an intense level in hot rooms making themselves sweat out water from their system. Occasionally, they will use rubber suits to make themselves sweat more.

Both of these practices will have you "lose" weight. The reason that I say "lose", is because it is not real weight loss and you will gain it right back. All you are doing is losing water weight not fat. For example, it is not uncommon for a wrestler to gain 5-10 lbs back in day. This is because after he makes his weight he will consume liquids and his body will absorb the liquid back into his system like a sponge.

Do not give into the claims of the media that you can lose a lot of weight quickly. Losing weight will take it's time when done correctly. However, when you do it in the proper way you will be able to keep the weight off for good.
