1. Sweetened Tea, Specialty Coffee Drinks, Flavored Sugar Drinks and Sports Drinks
These drinks usually contain a high amount of artificial sweeteners and corn syrup which is detrimental to your weightloss goals. A nonfat latte from Starbucks or McDonald's may be fine once in a while but not regularly. You do not want to overly restrict yourself otherwise any weightloss goals are bound to fail. A little indulgence once in a while will not hurt. Emphasis on "a little". If you have a problem keeping your indulgence to a minimum, consider eliminating your problem foods.
Try to avoid overly sweetened coffees and sugars with whipped cream and other fattening additions. Try a plain tea. Although most teas contain powerful antioxidants that support your diet and weightloss goals, green and white teas are far superior than black teas as they contain more antioxidants. Adding lemon to the tea will also allow more antioxidants to be absorbed into the body.
If you need to sweeten a beverage, consider a teaspoon of honey.
2. Low Fat Foods
Research has shown that people eat more and therefore greater calories of low fat foods than if they ate the real thing thereby defeating their weight loss goals. The manufacturers also usually overcompensate for the lack of fat by adding significant amounts of sugar usually in the form of corn syrup. You may want to simply consider eating the real thing but watching your portions.
3. Alcohol
If you must drink, a glass of wine especially red wine which contains antioxidants will help to keep the calories down. If you are disciplined, you will not need calorie counting since your calorie intake will be supported by your food decisions.
Alcohol is not usually considered full of nutrients and keeping your consumption to a minimum is important. If you must, keep alcohol consumption to one drink a day. If alcohol interferes with your weightloss goals then of course it must be avoided at all costs.
Avoid fancy cocktails which are chock-full of calories which will negatively impact the amount of calories a day that you consume. If you want a cocktail, try one with club soda and some 100% fruit juice and keep it at just one cocktail.
