Liposuction - Removing What Dieting Won't

You've enrolled at the gym and worked up a sweat getting rid of the unsightly fat

. You have dieted and cut out all known forms of sugar, caffeine, and bad carbs. You eat only organic foods and are as healthy as humanly possible, avoiding even those toxic synthetic sugars everyone is so hooked on. You look great except that one area. It just won't go away not matter how hard you try, short of starving yourself.

What are you to do? Well, liposuction is a great way to get rid of that nasty problem area that dieting and exercise have left behind.

First let it be made clear that liposuction is not a weight loss tool. You should not have this type of procedure if you are significantly overweight or have other health problems. Be sure to tell your doctor your complete medical history so that she can determine whether or not you are a good candidate for this type of procedure. If you are planning on using this procedure to rid yourself of large volumes of fat, please take a moment and reconsider. Removing large volumes of fat can be dangerous, and you don't want to risk any complications during or after the surgery.

That being said, there are several types of liposuction that doctors may use. There is the laser version, ultrasonic version, and the super-wet version that are popular. If your doctor is not comfortable using heated tubes and lasers to remove the fat, then she will most likely be thinking of the super-wet procedure. Unlike the other two types of procedures, it's not evident by the name how it is accomplished. The doctor will inject massive amounts of fluid into the area to aid in the removal of fat. Your doctor will be able to give you more information on which type she is planning to use during your consultation.

Depending on the area that undergoes liposuction, your doctor might give you a local anesthetic. Some physicians prefer a general anesthetic to a local one so that you do not move inadvertently, and they reduce the risk of a problem. But some doctors prefer you awake and able to stand for some of the procedures. Just remember if that is the case, do your best not to move or jerk during the surgery. You could inadvertently cause a problem that way.

Once the procedure is over, it's important to follow your doctor's orders to the letter. You don't want to cause more bruising or swelling than is already there by overdoing it. You will be able to return to work fairly soon, but it's suggested that you don't do any lifting or exercising for at least three weeks to keep from causing worse bruising.

Liposuction can remove the fat deposits from your problem areas with ease. It's up to you to keep up your new healthy habits to keep them from forming again. There is some debate on whether or not fat will reform in these areas but a significant weight gain will cause fat to form just about anywhere.
