Some mothers are obsessed with staying the same size, pregnant or not. Obviously when you are pregnant, hard-core exercising is ruled out completely. So the next option for some is to diet. However, is it safe to diet during pregnancy? Many physicians will tell you that it is unsafe. Most mothers gain about 20 to 30 pounds during their pregnancy. Twenty to thirty pounds may sound like a lot of weight but it is normal to gain that much. Women forget that when they are pregnant that they are now eating for two. So to reduce your regular diet would greatly deprive your unborn baby the nutrients it needs to develop correctly.
If trying to diet during pregnancy has crossed your mind, ask yourself why you feel the need to do so. A pregnancy is a gift from God. Many would love to have children but cannot. Gaining a little bit of weight during the 9 months that your child in your womb is all a part of God's magic. Do not take the risk of having your baby grow poorly because of something as superficial as looks. You can get back to your regular workout routine or diet as soon as you recover from having your baby. Until then, your unborn child should be your first priority.
Pregnancy is a critical time not only for yourself but also for your baby. Trying to diet during pregnancy removes your focus from what is truly important. That is delivering a safe and healthy baby. You should be focusing on consuming healthy food rather than trying to lose weight by starving yourself and your baby.
