Importance Of Finishing Yoga Poses

Although there are no golden rules about the sequence in which various yoga asanas

should be performed after warm-up session but then to attain maximum benefits out of the activity you should include some very important finishing poses in the end.

They not only help you cap off your yoga activity but also relax you mind, body and soul. They normalize your body temperature and help you gain most from your asana session. Take a look at few of the finishing yoga poses and try to include them in your exercise routine. They will certainly help you achieve total relaxation.

Savasana/ Corpse Pose

Considered as a classic pose to ensure a thorough relaxation, Savasana can be performed at the end of each asana or as a final relaxation activity at the end of the yoga session. Shava is a Sanskrit word that means a dead body and asana means posture. Therefore, it means lying like a dead body. Its a pose of total relaxation when the body of the performer doesnt do any activity except routing breathing in and out.

It can be performed minimum for five minutes to a maximum of 15-20 minutes every day. The asana multiplies the effect of yoga and exercises performed just before it. By looking at it, you might consider it to be an exceptionally easy pose but do not underestimate it. Unlike other yoga asanas, it requires a conscious effort to be quiet and immovable. In the beginning, you might have to struggle hard to surrender fully both mentally and physically.

Do not confuse it with a nap. While performing savasana, you are immovable but are aware of the surroundings and are very much in present. Its a way to relax without going off to sleep.

Final Corpse

Final corpse is performed at the end after savasana. It has a deep relaxation effect on your mind, body and soul but the idea is that you first need to experience tension in your body parts and then feel relaxation in the same pose. Its one of the most difficult yoga poses where you visualize your body in your mind and feel that they are relaxed. Again its a conscious effort that you apply for each of your body part and visualize that you have reached a stage of utmost pleasure. Although youre aware of each of your body part and all the happenings and actions of your body and mind but you feel stand still.

Benefits of these types of yoga:

1. They lower your blood pressure and decrease heart rate

2. Release all tension in muscles

3. Relaxation from headaches, pains, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks and nervous tension

4. Increase in memory, concentration, stillness, peace, productivity, self confidence and energy

Not only this, the best thing is that youre able to connect with your innermost and realize your potential and feel at peace with yourself. You master these yoga asanas gradually by practicing.
