How To Supercharge Your Fat Loss Results Without Boring Cardio
I have to admit, I hate cardio with a passion
I have to admit, I hate cardio with a passion. I truly do. Standing there on the treadmill or the elliptical like a hamster is not cool to me. Yeah, sometimes watching television would pass the time, but often I was still staring at the clock wondering when time would be up. Guess what, just because everyone does boring cardio to lose weight doesnt mean you have too either. What if I told you, you can burn more calories in less time and get better results without any fancy gadgets, gimmicks, or goofy fat loss supplements you see in the stores? Real simple, its called high intensity exercise and we are going to talk about it here today.
High intensity exercise is basically any type of exercise that is categorized as going above 85% of your maximum heart rate. To get a general idea of your max heart rate, take 220 and subtract that from your age and that is your age predicted maximum heart rate. Now, multiply that by .85 and this is your estimated exercise heart rate by the number of beats per minute.
Now, there are numerous types of exercise modes that you could perform that is classified as high intensity. The real basic one that a lot of people can understand is sprints.
Go to a track or go on that dreaded treadmill and perform a nice warm up. A good example of a warm up is a high incline walk or a light jog. What you are going to do next is perform your first sprint. If you are running on the track, sprint for 100 meters. If you are running on the treadmill, increases the speed to what you feel is very intense for you and do that for 10 seconds. Once you reach your distance, or the 10 seconds, bring the speed back down or start walking back to the starting line. Congratulations, you just performed your first sprint interval. From there, you can perform that same cycle another 10 times. This is very basic, but will get you used to the high intensity.
Each week, you can increase the time you run or increase the speed. You can also decrease the amount of time you rest in between cycles so youre actually performing more work in a less amount of time. This is called increasing your training density.
This is just a small example of high intensity exercise. I will be providing many more examples in other articles as time goes on. Dont you worry.
