When a person who is legitimately interested in dating e-mails a prospect for the first time it is generally something simple and to the point. People online are timid about asking others to get together or for more personal information; they dont want to be deemed a creep or crazy. When a scammer gets in contact through messages the messages will seem strange or very to the point. The scammer may ask for an alternate e-mail address, phone number, or even to meet in person within the first one to two messages. This is a good indication that they are a scammer. Once you refuse theyll likely stop messaging, too.
