How To Plan A Cheap Wedding
No bride wants a cheap wedding
No bride wants a cheap wedding. But if you are on a budget, then here are some tips to have the wedding you always dreamed of by making some tiny adjustments.
Budget
Before starting anything, plan the budget and stick to it. Decide how much money you want to spend beforehand, on every item in your wedding and do not go over your limit.
Location
Pick a place, that comes with everything. You may think that your backyard or an empty spot will cost you less, but the cost of renting things, such as chairs, tables, china etc will take you over and beyond your budget. So a good place to hold a wedding would be the church, if you or your parents belong to the church, you can rent the church for free. Another idea is renting your favorite restaurant for the event, this is also an inexpensive place to hold your wedding.
Borrow
Remember most of the stuff you wear on your wedding, you are going to wear it only once. So borrow whatever you can from your relatives, friends etc for the day. Since you need something borrowed, you can do this anyway.
Pick And Choose
Try to pick an off month for your wedding. Every girl dreams of being a spring bride, in the months of April or May, but getting married in December or November may save you some extra bucks. This way your vendors, caterers, florists will also be flexible with pricing. Try to avoid Saturday nights, as these are when usually weddings are held and you will be charged more on these days. Night time weddings also cost considerably more, as the guests will be served a full course dinner at the end.
Guest List
There is no need to call everyone you know to your wedding. Call only those near and dear to you. This will make the wedding more meaningful, and you will have a chance to mingle with your guests.
Flowers
This is another expensive item in your wedding. You can minimize the amount of flowers in your wedding. Try not to go overboard with the flower decorations, and keep them minimal. Do not be taken in by the bulk orders that your florists give you, and you will find the expense for flowers decrease considerably. Also use those flowers in season, rather than exotic ones.
Wedding Music
Consider a wedding compilation CD or hiring a DJ. Compared to hiring a band or musicians this will be much cheaper. It will look just as beautiful and not detract from the beauty of the wedding.
Food And Drinks
Don't assume that a buffet will be less expensive. There maybe less staff, but there is a lot of food involved. This will increase your costs. A wedding cake can cost a lot too, go to your local baker and see how much he charges. Often we find that these local bakeries charge reasonably, compared to the specialized bakeries. Many people think it is tradition to have an open bar; eliminate it altogether, guests can have fun without the booze. You can save on purchasing alcohol, which is incredibly expensive. Another inexpensive idea is to serve just cake, nuts and beverages to the guests.
Wedding Invitations
There are many shops to purchase invitations. But the best way to purchase invitations is to make them yourself. You can purchase them and print them out yourself, saving a small fortune and making them personalized.
Your Wedding Dress
If you have a lot of time before your wedding, be on the lookout for a wedding gown sale. Another option is to purchase a used wedding dress. They can be found in the consignment shops or even in the classifieds. You will save, and at the same time purchase the dress of your dreams.
Photographer
It is very important to get a good photographer, as you need memories to remind you of the treasured day. Instead of paying a thousand dollars for the photographers, you can ask if any of your friends or family members want to be the photographer for the day. Or you can even pass around disposable cameras to your friends and relatives and ask them to take some candid shots of the wedding.
You an easily save some money with these techniques. These are areas where you can make simple adjustments and have a beautifully put together wedding, without breaking the bank.
