I sometimes get correspondence from people who are trying to determine if medifast is actually a good deal or is cost effective. It's my opinion and experience that this diet is quite reasonably priced. I will tell you why in the following article.

And, I don't think anyone would argue that this is a decent amount of money. But, I feel like looking at how many meals that you are actually getting sometimes puts this into perspective.
If you're ordering any of this diet's monthly packages, you're getting at least 143 meals. (They sometimes throw in bonus meals depending upon the specials running at the time.) Without even figuring in any discounts or coupons, we can figure out the cost per meal and the cost per day. You're looking at about $9.96 cents per day and about $2.10 per meal before shipping, which is sometimes free with certain packages.
If you're like me, you spend close to this on your grocery bill before gas and time even enters into the equation. And, if you eat out, this probably brings your total up a bit more. I believe that my costs when I wasn't on a diet were actually similar to (and sometimes higher depending on my restaurant habits) to my costs on a diet. And, when I started researching the costs of many different and various diets, I saw that the costs vary significantly.
I even tried just preparing my own low carbohydrate meals and while the costs were somewhat comparable, the time spent was not. There was a very large time commitment when I prepared my own meals and I often had to buy specialty ingredients that ended up only being used once. I've come to realize that my time is sometimes worth as much to me than my money, which is one reason that I do consider medifast to be quite cost effective. But this is easy enough to research that you can conduct for yourself. You can pretty easily figure out your total costs on many diets quite easily. And sometimes, costs is not the only consideration. If you're wasting a lot of the food or having to spend a lot of time on preparation alone, this is important consideration for some people as well.
Finally, if you're ordering a monthly package, you can often use some very generous medifast coupons that will bring this $299 total down even more so that the cost per meal and per day is even less than what I have estimated here. They also offer weekly packages and they sell the meals individually, but as you might expect this works out to be a little more expensive.
