This is where dieting is all wrong as restricting calories (fuel) only works against the body lowering the metabolic rate and teaching the body to hold on to its fat stores more efficiently. The other aspect that doesn't work is the old fashioned belief that long, slow endurance type of activity is going to get you a strong, lean healthy body.
This is not so and it is now well proven that activities like walking, jogging or cycling do not increase the metabolic rate and are a very inefficient form of exercise for weight loss.
Proper strength training is a step above all of these outdated methods for weight loss that have never worked for the last forty years anyway. If weight loss is your goal you need to upgrade your thinking and your exercise regime.
