Weddings are difficult celebrations to organize. To start with, the bride and groom must work out what they want themselves. This is often not as easy as it seems, different expectations and desires can sometime cause conflict. So right from the start, good communication is paramount. And gentlemen, at any impasse, just let her do it her way. The wedding is celebrating your new wife so let her take the lead in most cases.
The second issue you may face is managing expectations of family members. How far do the family invites extend before you can stop and start inviting friends. This often causes issues as often family members in your "extended family", people who have not played a part in your life for years, still expect an invitation to these big events. Then you have friends that are a part of your life in a big way today, but they are new friends and have not been with you for long. Wedding invite allocations are always difficult and someone always has to be the first person to miss out. Just do the best you can. If people who are not invited cause trouble, they probably are not your true friends anyway.
Then there are the millions of details to be organised before the big day arrives. It is important to get everything perfect, this is your wedding after all. The devil is in the detail as they say.
Many people these days have their weddings away from home; on an island, on a beach or in the mountains for example. For these couples, organizing the minutiae can be difficult. They do not have local knowledge and are not on location managing everything. The regular organizational challenges are dramatically compounded for these couples.
