Western culture has celebrated wedding favors for centuries

Almonds replaced sugar as the sweet of choice to be handed out with the gift. This trend, too, also changed. Regular almonds were eventually replaced by confetti, or sugar coated almonds. This choice of sweets is representative of the kind of life trials married couples often face, both bitter and sweet. These almonds were often wrapped in decorative fabrics, if not in an ornament, to represent the wishing of health and happiness onto the couple.
The tradition of giving gifts during a wedding party has extended beyond Western cultures and is now found all over the world. Choosing a wedding favor has become as common as choosing the wedding invitations, and is an important part of the wedding planning. The favors are usually small in size, and a large selection of favors to choose from helps find something that appeals to your personal style.
A new trend booming among couples is inscribing the favors with a unique message. This message is in addition to their names and date of celebration. Classic favors that are common in traditional weddings included sugar coated almonds or chocolates within some sort of trinket. Wedding themed candles, soaps, or even key chains are all options for your consideration.
A less traditional option you may consider is the compilation of a favorites CD. In this case the bride and groom choose their favorite songs and have these songs all placed on one CD as their favor of choice. Another idea may include, but is not limited to, candy filled shot glasses. This trend of showing guests gratitude has extended well beyond only weddings. If you are preparing for other occasions such as a bridal shower or a bachelorette party, favors are often used during these occasions as a symbol or gratitude as well.
Preparing your favor of choice includes some sort of process. You will probably begin by deciding which ornamental form you want to use as your favor, from the many options available to you. Consider your wedding theme or how you want to represent your personality as a couple. What will you inscribe on the favor and finally, how many will you need to purchase?
Ask beforehand if your wedding favors need to be assembled. You do not to be caught off guard with assembly. If so, prepare to have these favors put together. You may even consider recruiting the help of willing family or friends.
