Four Things to Avoid when Buying Last Minute Concert Tickets

Four Things to Avoid when Buying Last Minute Concert Tickets

1. Buying Tickets Through Craigslist

Buying items through craigslist can get you some awesome deals. But it can also get you cheated out of monay without a way to reclaim your loss. If you need moderately priced tickets ($35 or less) for a lower profile concert, chances are a ticket scammer wouldn't go through the trouble of producing invalid tickets. But if you're looking for good tickets to concerts such as Cher, Elton John, or other artists easily sell out sports stadiums, then going through a ticket broker is the safest choice.

2. Buying Tickets from Scalpers at the Concert Venue

Scalpers could offer you some of the cheapest tickets of all, especially if you wait until the concert has started to buy them. But scalpers are also known for selling high priced, invalid tickets to big events and then disappearing into the night. As with Craigslist sellers, many scalpers won't waste their time on moderately priced tickets. But they will go for the big score. Better to buy last minute concert tickets from a ticket broker than leaving a concert broke without even seeing it.

3. Buying from Brokers that have a Bad Rep at the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

Checking a company's record at the BBB can tell you a lot about how it does business, and ticket brokers are no exception. Before buying your last minute concert tickets, do a quick, online check of a broker's record at the BBB. If a broker has unresolved customer complaints on its record, buy your tickets through another broker that doesn't. Otherwise, you might be the next unresolved complaint.

4. Trying to Win Last Minute Tickets Through Radio Call-ins

This method of ticket procurement isn't shady, but it is downright frustrating. Some people enjoy the rush of trying to win last minute tickets through radio call-ins. But if you're serious about attending a concert at the last minute, don't count on a call-in opportunity to supply you with tickets. At any second, you could be competing against thousands of other callers, which is poor odds compared to calling a ticket broker and likely getting the tickets you want right away.
