Eco-friendly Ways To Lose Weight

Going green has become one of the major battlecries of the 21st century

. And rightly so, because as we save our environment, we are not only saving ourselves but are making sure the future generations would still have a liveable world to move in. However, as much there are a lot of people who are willing to go green, it is not as easy as it seems.

In my own way, I have tried to do my part without necessarily installing solar panels on my roof or growing my own organic vegetable garden. What I have been doing is being less wasteful. I eat healthy foods which not only improve my overall health but also allow me to burn calories without spending too much.

Here are a few suggestions to help you not only become healthier but also contribute to saving the environment:

1. Drive less often. You can help reduce the amount of carbon monoxide in the environment by walking or riding your bike more often instead of driving. In addition, gas prices continue to escalate thus by doing these things, you would also be able to save some money. Walking is a great exercise so on top of all that, you get to burn extra calories as well.

2. Shop locally. Buy your farm produce from harvesters in your local area. Aside from saving on gas and paying less for the produce, you would also be supporting your local farming industry.

3. Utilize a reusable water bottle. Instead of carrying around a small plastic bottle of water, get a reusable bottle instead. This would lessen the number of water bottles that end up in our landfills. There are some which are lightweight and do not have that disgusting plastic smell. It is also a good idea to install a filter in your kitchen faucet to make sure you always have clean water at home.

4. Choose the right fish to include in your diet. There are some which are overfished and may have harmful toxins in them. A list of these fish are posted on related websites. Make sure to check it out.

5. Recycle your old running shoes. You can pass them on to someone who would be able to make use of them. There are also organizations that recycle worn out running shoes and turn them into recreational and playground materials.

6. Work on your garden. You can burn a few calories airing the soil, pulling out weeds, and watering your plants. At the same time, gardening can be a very relaxing hobby. A well maintained garden would give your home a very warm and pleasant appeal.

7. Bring a packed lunch to work or school. Using reusable utensils will lessen the production of disposable cups, plates, spoons, knives, and forks. Preparing your own packed lunch is more economical and it will give you control over the portions and calories you consume. At the same time, you are helping the environment.
