Does The Hcg Diet Plan Really Work?

You have just heard about it, and maybe friends are telling you about their weight loss success on it

, but you don't yet have a clue what this new diet plan is? Well I hadn't heard about it either until a few weeks ago, and I'm curious about whether this diet could work for me too. But despite needing to lose quite a lot of weight I'm doing some serious research about it before I even consider starting a diet that sounds pretty radical to me.

Once I got past the fact that I would need to spend at least part of the time on a restricted 500 calorie food plan, and would need to take homeopathic hCG drops, I started to get interested in how this plan could work as a healthy diet plan.

While you might think that if anybody only took in 500 calories a day they are guaranteed to lose weight, I can personally assure you that it is possible to eat as little as 500 calories a day and still not lose weight. If your thyroid is totally shot, and your metabolism so out of whack from yo-yo dieting as mine is, it is perfectly possible to plateau on even a restricted calorie intake as this.

So I downloaded the book by Dr. A. Simeons and started to study the concept behind this diet. Then I decided to put the information online as I came across it, and the online products that seemed to me to be the most valuable and useful resources in this program.

The human chorionic gonadotropin or hCG is a hormone which is produced during pregnancy. HCG is released by the placenta during the initial stages of pregnancy and is not normally found otherwise in the body system.

Its main function is to support the formation of progesterone which is required for the growth and development of the placenta. Since the hormone is only typically found in the urine of a pregnant woman, pregnancy kits were formed in order to test the presence of hCG. The hormone was also found effective in treating gonad disorders.

In the 1950s a doctor named A. Simeons found out that when children with underdeveloped gonads were treated with hCG they also experienced weight loss.

They were able to lose weight effectively without undergoing those dreaded hunger pans that usually came along with dieting. This resulted in Simeons taking an ardent interest in hCG which eventually lead to the introduction of the hCG diet plan.

While the diet is without a doubt getting thousands of rave reviews from its users, you should still make sure you approach this very strict diet program with a full toolchest of resources and your eyes wide open. It is always recommended to get the opinion of an expert before you go into any new form of diet.

Does the hCG diet really work or is it just another overhyped fad?

The diet in itself can be pretty challenging. This is because the main objective behind the diet is to consume only around 500 calories a day. The low intake of calories can result in body weaknesses if you don't get sound advice and a good selection of healthy hCG diet recipes to draw on to maximize the nutrition value of your daily meals.

By the end of the diet regime, your body will get used to the low calorie intake and slowly your eating habits will change accordingly. You will not need to take in as much food as before to satiate your hunger.

In short, the hCG diet plan is effective in losing weight but how your body responds to the low calorie intake is something you need to be wary about. So make sure you do your research and get some good quality guides and recipe books to help you follow this plan to successful weight loss.
