Dating Advice For Single Men - Do Pick Up Lines Really Work?
I've had more than a few guys ask the question
, "do pick up lines really work," and my answer is always: Yes and No.
See, whether or not a pick up line actually works is dependent on a lot of different things. Two guys can approach the same woman using the same pick up line, and one guy gets a cold reaction and the other gets her number.
Why?
Well, like I said, there are many different reasons for this.
Some guys just have a way of delivering a line that makes it seem authentic and genuine. And some guys can drop a pick up line on a girl, make her laugh, and that is good enough to get the conversation going, and the attraction building.
Of course, when some guys use a pick up line... it sounds like they are trying to pick up a woman, and that is when it will usually BOMB.
Here are some tips on how to make pick up lines work:
1. Act like you are just being playful about it.
One of the things that will make a line bomb is when you make it seem like it is too serious. I'll give you an example of what has worked for me, and an example of when another guy will use the same one and it bombs.
"Come here often?"
Said with a sly smile, a look from her like are you serious, and then shared laughter when she realizes that it is just a joke. This works because it does not come across like you are seriously thinking she will fall for it.
When you try and make it seem serious, with a straight face, then you look like a guy that is trying to pick up women, and you know what most women think of that? They don't like it. I've seen guys use this line and the woman looks at them and tries to find out if he is serious or not, and when they realize he is, they jet off looking to find one of their girlfriends, or whatever.
2. Be committed to the line.
Sometimes, being committed to the line is what will make or break you. Let's use another common almost corny line as an example.
"Wow, you could be a model"
Most of the time, this will sound like a desperate ploy to compliment her and make her feel attracted to you, and it will not work. It will bomb and you will look like another clueless wanna be, and get nowhere at all.
However, take the same line, and stay committed to it, while making it playful.
"You could be a model... in fact I think I saw you on a magazine once, it was called...Geeks Quarterly... was that really you?"
If she is a playful female, then chances are, she will see that you are just joking, and a lot of the times, she will continue on with it. Of course some girls just are not all that playful or funny, and those are the ones you want to bounce away from.
3. Demonstrate open, confident alpha male body language.
Have you ever seen two comedians tell basically the same joke... and one cracks the audience up and the other gets nothing but total silence?
It's almost always because of the delivery and the way that they own the stage. If you watch the big name comedians, they own the room, they own the stage. The can say basically anything they want... and the audience is going to crack up.
Now, take the same joke and have it delivered by a newbie comedian, a guy that kind of looks awkward or uneasy on the stage. Chances are, he is going to get either no reaction or maybe a little sympathy applause.
What made the difference was the delivery and the way he projected himself. The veteran comedian is confident, he knows that he is funny. The newbie comedian still is unsure of himself and needs to have validation from the crowd to make himself feel confident.
The same is true with pick up lines.
A guy that knows he can attract women, a guy that knows from prior experience that he can pick up a woman will have a much different reaction than a guy that is new to the whole idea of using pick up lines. He does not have any prior experience to back himself up and he NEEDS validation from the woman.
