Basic Dog Grooming Tips Every Man Should Live By
Dogs are man's best friend
Dogs are man's best friend. For other people, they are even considered as family members. Since no one wants to live with a best friend or family members who look and smell bad, it is clear and understandable why dog owners take the time to follow the basics and even invest in dog grooming tips to make sure that their furry friends are as clean as they should be.
Actually, it is not just about smelling great and looking fabulous. Being well-groomed is a good way of ensuring the health and overall wellbeing of our canine pets. They also feel more comfortable when they are groomed well. Whether it entails a long trip to a professional's shop or the daily grooming procedures at the comforts of home, there are certain things that are considered basic but really important in giving canines a polished appearance. Here are some of the basics.
1. Regular bath - Although most dogs initially do not like being bathed, they can get used to it if their owners strictly enforce the procedure on a regular basis. Behavior modification is an effective way of doing this. One can give the dog a piece of its favorite food after a complete bath to serve as a reward. It is recommended for dogs to be bathed monthly, but doing it weekly is not bad at all.
2. Hair care - This might not be really important to all kinds of dogs, but since a large part of the human population falls for the cuddly, hairy cuties, this piece of advice is highly useful. Poodles and shih tzus generally have to visit their barbers every 4 weeks at the very least. This is because their hairs are growing continuously.
Haircuts are, most of the time, done by professionals, but there are pet owners who do the entire job by themselves and are good at doing so. One thing owners should be responsible of is brushing their pets' hair. This is something most dogs enjoy. In addition to that, their coats end up healthier and better-looking.
3. Ear care - Just like their masters' auditory organs, dogs' ears should be cleaned regularly to avoid the accumulation of bacteria and yeast in them. There are chronic ear diseases that dogs can end up having because their owners are not being keen in keeping their pets thoroughly groomed on a regular basis.
4. Nail care - Anyone who says keeping the nails cut and clean is a human-only concern should try playing around with dogs whose nails are not regularly trimmed. However, it can be pretty painful for these canines when their nails are cut too short. A professional can do the job well, but pet owners can also learn how to do so. After all, nothing beats caring for a family member personally.
With these basic steps, it is possible to get our canine friends all groomed up and ready to strut their stuff on any ramps without having to spend too much on professional groomers. It might take a little time to master these dog grooming tips, but it is going to be worth all the hassle after seeing our best friends looking and smelling as gorgeous as they can be.
