Dating Advice - 10 Real Reasons Men Fail at Online Dating
1. Your Subject Line
1. Your Subject Line
If you're putting anything in the range of "Hi," "Hey," ":) " "How's it going?" or "ur sexy" You can expect to fail 99% of the time. Why? Because these women log on and are immediately overwhelmed with nearly hundreds of messages that's why! You've gotta stand out here so that she opens your message. Otherwise you will be "unread/deleted" - Skim her profile and get creative. If she just ran a marathon, write "I thought I recognized you!" Then in the message say something flirty like "I was right behind you in the race the whole time but never quite caught up." She will read it, guaranteed.
2. Your photos paint you as "the nice guy"
Got smiley photos of you with a kid and a dog? Nix 'em. Women SAY that they want a nice guy, but when push comes to shove, they want someone exciting, who likes to travel and be active. Photos of you skydiving, in front of a statue or mountain, anything that shows you out and about! THAT is what women are looking for.
3. You go for the Gold and skip over the Silver and Bronze.
OK we're all guilty of it...You search for women in your area, and out of the 100 that come up, you message the 9 really hot "10's," and skip over the 30 8's and 10 9's in the process. Guys, if you're doing this everyone is! First off, if a hottie only has one pic up, assume it's a fake profile. Knowing that, you need to lower your standards and go for the women who are still attractive but not as unattainably hot. These cute-pretty women are not only lower maintenance, they are usually sweeter and more fun. Message 20 of these women tonight and see what happens.
4. You put all your eggs in one basket
Related to #4, you get excited about a few select women, hope they message you back and forget about the hundreds of other chicks online who would go out with you. Online dating is a numbers game-anyone who says different is a moron. Write out a solid message that has gotten you responses before, plug in the activities/interests of other women and shoot that message out to 20+ women a day if you really want to elicit responses and boost your confidence online.
5. You aren't showing off YOU
What the hell does that mean? Here's an example: My best friend loves the old Kurt Russell movies from the '70's. When I suggested that he write that under "Interests" he said "No way, chicks don't like that stuff." and put "movies" instead. Boring! Women love when you have your own interests-especially unique, specific ones like that. Women want to know what makes you YOU. Unless your hobby is is jerking off to Disney characters, put 'em down-you'll attract women who will appreciate it!
6. Your Headline is Douchey
"Just Looking," "No drama Please," OR "Insert Clever Headline Here..." NO guys...Just no. These headlines make it seem like you aren't taking online dating seriously. Right away a woman reading that will feel bad about online dating herself. Women are already in a vulnerable position when they put themselves out there online. It's your job to flirt with them and make them laugh and feel good about being there. There is no "right" headline albeit one that shows you are clever and fun. "It's cool, I know you want to message me," "Looking for a girl who packs light," will love your dog" = Yes, yes, and yes.
7. Your Profile is too long
Keep your profile no more than 5 sentences. The best way to appeal to a woman is not to scare her off with your life story. Limit your profile to a few brief sentences about what you like, what a typical weekend entails for you, and where you want to be. Sprinkle with some clever humor and suddenly she wants to know more. She isn't bogged down by a novel! Example: Originally from Los Angeles, but who needs perfect weather and attractive women anyways? Love staying active, having some fun competition and laughing a lot.
8. You got some bad advice and put up pics of you and an EX
Yep, I've read it too. Put up a picture of you hanging out with attractive girls and she will think, "Hey, women want this guy, and so do I!" It just doesn't work like that. On the contrary, when you put some pictures up with you and another cute girl (with the exception of your sister-in which case the caption should SAY it's your sister) women will think you are a player. Guess what? Women on online dating sites aren't looking for players. They probably went so far as to write that in their description! Photo of you and the guys = good, photo of you and another hot girl = tacky.
9. You're apologizing and you haven't even met her yet!
You start your description with "I am still working on this part, but here we go." OR "Hmm I don't know what to say here but..." Then it makes you seem uninteresting. And that's not fair to you! Don't apologize for anything, just write down a few quick sentences about what kind of woman you are looking for, and why you would get along with her. If it's clever, bonus points.
10. You aren't being honest about what YOU want
Don't like kids? Don't want a woman over 31? Don't want a Yankees fan? Say it! Why do the woman get to be brutally honest on their profile and the guys don't? You don't have to be a dick, just write "I am not looking for someone who already has kids, or watches too much reality TV" Boom. Hey if you get an angry email from a mother of 2, at least you didn't go on a date with her only to find out that she has kids later, right?
