Dane Cook may not have been the type of person in mind when the term "renaissance man" was coined
, but he certainly fits the bill. The comedian seems to have a Midas touch with his numerous projects, and he is staying as busy as ever lately. Whether it is his standup, movies or music, fans can't seem to get enough of this talented entertainer. His live tour is incredibly popular, and fans can get Dane Cook tickets.
The aspect of Cook's career that initially got him noticed was his everyman-styled standup act. He seemed to be able to take everyday events from his life and connect with a wide range of fans. His current tour is called the ISolated INcident Global Thermo Comedy Tour. Cook's tours are normally light-hearted and hilarious, and while this tour has some of that, Cook revealed to MTV that this tour is also a little darker. The material comes from a tough time in his life, as he lost both parents to cancer in a nine-month span. Few could turn such tragedy into comedy gold, but humor has always been how Cook has processed life's twist and turns.
For the fans who saw his show and want to relive the experience, Cook is about to release a DVD of ISolated INcident through Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. The DVD will hit stores on Nov. 17. The DVD features his performance at Hollywood's Laugh Factory and also boasts extras like an interview with Cook. Of course, the DVD is no substitute for seeing him live, as his shows are known for their over-the-top atmosphere.
The DVD isn't the only release fans have to look forward to from Dane Cook. He is also reportedly working on a new music release. To make his musical dream come to fruition, he will be working with one of the most famous names in rock: Tommy Lee. Cook revealed the MTV that he has been a fan of Lee's band Motley Crue for quite some time. It isn't the first time Cook has made a foray into music, as he previously released the single "I'll Never Be You," which fans loved.
On the film front, Cook also told MTV that his next dream role is to play the villain The Riddler for the next installment of the popular Batman film series starring Christian Bale. The last Batman film was called Dark Knight and it gave the classic villain The Joker a new twist with the help of late actor Heath Ledger. Cook's other film credits include Stuck on You, Good Luck Chuck and Dan in Real Life.
Dane Cook's story began outside of Boston in Arlington, Mass., where he grew up. As soon as he turned 18, he started hitting the comedy circuit, honing in on college campuses. He stood out among other comedians looking for stardom, as Dane personally kept in touch with fans. Even now, he still answers emails from fans and returns phone calls. His popularity eventually grew to the point of comedic super stardom, and he has released numerous comedy albums as well as appeared in his own television comedy specials.
