Creative Wedding Ideas - Invitations
Planning a wedding is both exciting and nerve-wracking
. The biggest strain most couples have is figuring out ideas to make their wedding stand apart from the rest. It is not so much about being in competition with other weddings, but more about making sure their wedding is indicative of the people they are as individuals and as a couple.
But how do you stand out from the wedding crowd? There are many ways you can do this, many of which I will take a closer look at over the course of a few articles. First up: Invitations!
Invitations will give your guests the very first impression of your wedding. Whether you like calligraphy script or a more minimalist sans serif font, or prefer either a timeless or trendy design, your invitation should reflect who you are. Here are two simple ways to twist the invitation tradition just enough that anyone who receives on will remember it forever.
Fortune Teller Invites
Note: For those who are not familiar with paper fortune tellers, you may want to look up the design before reading on so you can understand how this can be transformed into an invitation.
Does everyone remember playing with fortune tellers back in elementary school (ahem, sometimes even high school). Of course we do! There is so much appeal in using the fortune teller design for invitations. For one, upon slipping the invite out of the envelope, your guest will instantly be transported to their childhood, giving them a dose of nostalgia that will surely bring a smile to their faces. Secondly, theyre fun! The four exterior corners of the fortune teller can indicate the main invitation headingsDate, Time, Place and Mapand as the details of each heading will be noted underneath the corresponding flap. You can even go a step further by putting a photo or writing up a story in the internal blank side of the full-length page. Whether you are planning a wild destination wedding in Vegas or choosing a quaint local
wedding banquet hall, guests will appreciate the time you put into making the invitations, and will especially appreciate you sending them on a journey down memory lane.
Hand Delivery
Thats right, I said it: Hand deliver your invitations. Depending on the number of people on your guest list, this may be easier for some than for others. But imagine how touched each guest would be by you taking the time to stop by everyones house to hand them over their invitation. It is not only kind and thoughtful, but it is intimate in the way weddings are viz. the closeness you share with your friends and family is amplified when they are all in the same
wedding hall, on the same night for the sole reason of celebrating your love. What if you drop by and theyre not in? Well, I guess then youll just drop it off in the mailbox. At least you will save on postage!
