Almost everyone wants to experience some weight loss

Catherine Champagne, Ph.D., professor of research at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Louisiana State says that we would be better off setting smaller goals than setting our sights at the big end weight. As Americans, this goes against the give a 110% attitude we are born with, but here are some tips to get you going in the right direction.

#1 Change 1 Food

Do you love to eat dessert every day? Well, do not try to give it up altogether. That will just have you eating it back in a week or two. Try giving it up one day a week.

If that does not work for you, try switching to an alternative. Instead of getting the double chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream try getting the cookie. If you must have the cake, split it with a friend. Small changes like these are easier to stick to and go a long way in your weight loss attempts.

#2 Add Small Activities

It has been said a thousand times before to add exercise to your daily routine. If you are like me, then you swear you will do it this time. I start good but after a week or so things get in the way.

What really worked for me is adding it to my life. I park further away. I take the stairs when I can. It is now a habit. It is so much a habit that new friends comment on my parking! It works though, and I do not even notice anymore.

#3 Build in Rewards (Get a Massage)

This happens to be my favorite part. When I was losing weight, I rewarded myself with frequent massages. I deserved it! I worked hard for the weight loss and I wanted to reward myself with a massage, but I did not just go anywhere for a massage.

I went to a chiropractor. I got a massage where I could get some weight loss advice, too. This way, I could pamper myself and learn about nutrition and weight loss. Good trick, wasn't it?

#4 Stay Healthy

As tempting as it is to starve yourself, DON'T. Once you see results, you will want to start amplifying what you are doing. Please, don't do this. You will get burned out and will only end up quitting. Keep the weight loss slow and steady.

I liked to talk to the nutritionists to keep me on track. If you are going to a chiropractor for your massage, they often have nutritionists available to help you keep on track.

#5 Do Not Give Up

Your weight came on slowly over time and your weight will leave slowly over time. If you make these small changes, then the weight will slowly come off. Give it time and do not give up. Keep up with the small changes and you will see results. It will be gradual but the results will show.
