I know I married a good man. But is he good enough and kind enough to forgive me for cheating? How do I get him to look past my cheating and see how much I still love him?
One of the most difficult things in the world for a man to deal with is emotional pain. Cheating is a huge blow to the average man. It hits him on different levels than other acts will.
How Cheating Affects Men
Cheating puts men into different felt situations but they still reside in the same scheme of effect. They actually experience the generic feeling when their wives cheat on them. Here they are:
1)Deep, soul wrenching pain. Loving husbands are simply hurt by the fact that their wives cheated on them - just as most women in the same situation would be. The fact that they express emotions differently doesn't mean they don't feel them and that is one mistake that many women make. They take the lack of emotive expression from their husbands as a sign that he doesn't feel things as deeply. It's just not true.
2)Monstrous jealousy. Men don't like to share. Anything. If he doesn't like to share his television remote or his favorite hammer, how much more do you think he dislikes the idea of sharing his wife with another man? It's not going to go over well in the best of times. He is going to be jealous of every detail, moment, and look you shared with this other man.
3)Immense blow to the ego. Cheating is explicitly believed to be an act common in men who adheres to this stigma. Men are proud beings. With cheating cutting through their hearts, it may be still invisible to the immediate senses. A man used to believe he is the best husband in your life because you chose him and this motivation somehow turned the other way around. He may not be the best around so it's just an uneasy blow to the ego. Men do not like the feeling of being number two in a marriage.
Now, how can I get him to Forgive my Cheating?
That's the million dollar question of the day. You have to counteract the negative feelings he's experiencing if you really want his forgiveness. One of the most useful methods for doing this is to appeal to the blow to his ego.
Remind him that you were tempted by the other man but ultimately found him second best in comparison to your husband. Tell him why he's the better man.
