Sagging breast can be the result of many things including weight loss
, age, breast feeding and pregnancy. Whatever the reasons your breast are sagging the end results are the same and a breast lift may be the answer you are looking for. A breast lift -called a mastopexy raises the breast up, removes excessive skin and recreates your breast before nature and gravity took their course.
Before you under go a breast lift you may want to make sure you are done having children, although it is not a requirement. As any woman knows who has had children, pregnancy will enlarge your breast and the subsequent birth and breastfeeding will potentially led to saggy breast so you may be having a lift done multiple times if you get pregnant in between your procedures.
Another factor you may want to consider is your future weight. If you are planning to lose a significant amount of weight in the near future you should discuss this with your plastic surgeon during the initial consultation. Weight loss can sometimes mean a reduction in breast size and this of course can lead to saggy breast again in your future. So discuss this with your doctor so they can help you decide if a breast lift is right for you now or in the future.
During your initial consultation with the surgeon they will go over what surgical techniques will work best for you depending on a variety of factors including your breast size and shape, the location and size of your areolas, how elastic your skin is and how much sag you have to contend with. The older you are the less elasticity your skin has in it, so a breast lift may have better results with younger women who have a lot of elasticity left in their skin. Your surgeon will probably photograph your breast for your medical records and go over your medical history with you including your history of breast biopsies, any medications you are taking and any past reactions to anesthesia.
Your surgeon will also go over the risk of any surgical procedure with you and make sure you are a good surgical candidate before you schedule your breast lift.
If all goes well you will probably be able to go home the same day as long as you have someone to drive you home and stay with you that night. It takes about a week to recover to go back to work depending on how physical your job is and about two to three weeks to get back to your normal routine. As you recover, you will probably find your incisions are slightly visible but they will usually fade over time and are easily concealed by clothing.
