Breast Lift: Considering The Procedure Post Pregnancy
After bringing a baby into the world a new mother may find that her breasts do not look as perky
, firm or full as they once did. Some women describe them as looking deflated. This is even more likely for a woman who has given birth to a number of children and done her share of breastfeeding.
If working out your pectoral muscles has not yielded the results you are seeking then breast lift surgery might be right for you to restore your appearance to what it once was. This procedure is a smart solution especially for women who suffer from excessive sagging.
This operation removes excess skin that is no longer needed and it also gets rid of underlying tissue in the bosom. Once the skin and tissue is taken away, the breast can then be reshaped and elevated. The tissue that remains in place will be repositioned by the cosmetic surgeon. The same can be said for the nipple. This will allow the patient's chest to be firmer and higher up on the body where it should be.
Some patients decide to not just have a breast lift after pregnancy but to have augmentation (in other words, implants) done at the same time. This can be done but must be evaluated by the doctor on a case-by-case basis.
Having implants following pregnancy should be something a female decides to do only after she has finished having all of her children. This is because in some cases augmentation can affect the ability to breastfeed an infant and it can also sometimes give rise to future breast milk problems.
The best candidates for this surgery are women who are both healthy in a physical and mental sense. Most patients who have the surgical procedure are 30 years of age and older. However for women who have extremely heavy or very loose and saggy breasts, having a breast lift at a younger age might be something worth thinking about.
Not all patients recover from this operation in exactly the same span of time. Healing and recuperation is a very personal and individual thing. Women who opt for the surgery are encouraged to take a week off of work (or in some cases two weeks).
Lifting heavy objects or any type of strenuous activity such as exercise must be avoided for four to six weeks. The scars that are left following the procedure can take as many as 10 to 12 months to fade. For some women it will take even longer. The good news is that the great majority of patients are pleased by the results of their breast lift.
