Breast Augmentation, Is It Right For You?
When considering a breast augmentation procedure there are lots of things to think about
. Why do you want the procedure? How much does it cost? Are you a candidate? What do they do? What are the side- effects of such a procedure? Can I live with them?
There are so many valid reasons for this procedure. Valid can be that you are unhappy with your breasts. Perhaps they are not in proportion to your body. Perhaps you had a mastectomy and a reconstruction will give you back your womanly shape. Maybe you were born with a deformity that would respond to reconstruction. Some procedures are done because a person is transsexual and this is part of that change for them. So what happens when you make the choice to undergo reconstruction?
Your surgeon will of course go over your medical history, family history, any abnormal mammograms, and your surgeon will discuss your expectations. They will discuss whether a saline or silicone implant is best. Your surgeon will want to take photos for their records. You should come prepared to be candid about your expectations and to take these photos. They will discuss the type of incision that will be best for your breast and desired outcome. Some incisions they will consider are under the breast right above the crease, around the areola, or near the armpit. So now your stoked to head home with this new information and schedule your day.
Before you head into surgery, there are a few things to consider. Woman who intend to get pregnant, lose weight, or breastfeed may want to put the surgery off until this phase in life is past. Reconstruction can reduce your ability to nurse your children. Weight fluctuations in pregnancy or otherwise can change the breasts appearance. Your surgeon will undoubtedly discuss this with you. They want you just as pleased with your results as they are.
On the big day be prepared to have someone at home to help you. You will want to bring a supportive bra in your new size. You should have someone to drive you home that day in most cases. This person and you are going to be responsible for keeping an eye out for infection.
As with any reconstructive surgery hopefully you will feel you made the right choice. The results will be immediate and only improve as time goes. Hopefully you will feel more self -confidence when you walk around in your little black dress. Breast augmentation may not be right for everyone, but if you are a good candidate it could be right for you.
