A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, raises and reshapes the breasts, and can be performed without inserting implants. The plastic surgeon will make several incisions, one around the areola and above, one from the bottom of the nipple, and one along the fold of the breasts. Excess skin will then be removed from these incision areas.

The areola and nipple are repositioned higher on the chest in order to provide for a more natural look. One advantage of this part of the process is that it leaves the nipple connected to the underlying tissue, preserving nipple sensitivity. Finally the skin is pulled tight and sutured back together. This creates firmer, perkier breasts that have a much younger looking shape and appearance.

* Cost

The price tag for a mastopexy is generally about $3000 to $6000, depending on the area and the surgeon.

* Recovery

The recovery will be similar to that of a breast augmentation surgery. There will be some bruising, swelling, and tenderness for many days or weeks afterwards. Your plastic surgeon may recommend that you wear a sport bra until the tenderness subsides. He or she will also ask you to refrain from any heavy lifting or straining for about a month.
