Are you Worried About your Weight? Go for Instant Weight Loss
Among all the talk of various products that promise "instant" weight-loss
, obese people have a palette of options to choose from.
But little do we realize that there is no magical cure for obesity, which will just make us look slimmer overnight...except maybe Photoshop, or other such picture editing software.
People claiming to reduce weight drastically within a week or a month usually encourage diets, pills, or laxatives. However, these have more side-effects than most other procedures, such as liposuction, or massages.
"All-natural" medicinal supplements or diets may in fact contain harmful chemicals that are not even mentioned on the label. They may even contain too much of a mineral, vitamin, salt, or herb that may prove to be toxic to the human body.
Diet pills that suppress hunger may actually contain traces of laxative, along with the main component. Diet pills usually comprise of phenylpropanolamine and/ or caffeine and usually turn out to be addictive. Overdoses or long time prescription to the same cause nervousness, restlessness, insomnia, high blood pressure, fatigue and hyperactivity, palpitation, congestive heart failure or heart attack, stroke, headaches, dry mouth, vomiting and diarrhea or constipation, tingling in extremities, excessive perspiration, dizziness, disruption in menstrual cycle, change in sex drive, hair loss, blurred vision, fever and urinary tract problems. Overdoses can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure, heart attack and convulsions.
Laxatives are also a very commonly used weight-reduction tool. However, the abuse of this is what causes eating disorders such as anorexia or, bulimia. Since this too is considered addictive in nature, withdrawal symptoms such as abdominal cramping, constipation, bloating, and mood swings are observed in people who use laxatives discontinue in their use of them.
Diuretics are another means of reducing weight, but they were not meant for this purpose. They only reduce water-retention in the body and are hence used for medical purposes to treat patients suffering from fluid retention in organs such as the lungs. These can prove to be highly dangerous when taken by general consumers with no need to do so. Diuretics can cause dehydration, and loss of electrolytes that could lead to nervous and heart disorders that require the consumer to be hospitalized for treatment.
Another method that some celebrities endorse is that of detox-diets, that supposedly purge the system of toxins that accumulate due to exposure to various elements of everyday, such as junk food, pollution, etc. These diets encourage the intake of fruit juices, fresh vegetables, and all natural products, such as natural curds, and anti-oxidants. One must keep away from wheat, coffee, alcohol, meat, and other such"unhealthy" foods.
However, in the long run, detox diets leave you craving normal food, and exhausted than before. They are good and awesome after-effects if followed for a span as short as a week or two, but longer periods are not generally advised.
