Apulia (Puglia) region in Italy forms the eastern most part of the peninsula and has a long coastline, facing the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas.

Puglia has another international airport at Brindisi, called Brindisi Casale Airport. Brindisi airport is the closest to the Salento district.
