A Thorough Guide To Amsterdam Residing Plus Easy To Pursue Hint On Looking For Housings

The Special Sites at De Plantage, Amsterdam

If youre trying to escape the nostalgic feel of the village, then De Plantage is probably one of the most affordable escapes one can get whilst still hooked to Amsterdam, far more modern than places such as Muiden or Centrum. The whole area found at the East part of Amsterdam is spacious and offers different attractions for kids, adults, intellectuals and adventurers. The Amsterdam Centre for Architecture or ARCAM is located at De Plantage which offers annual exhibits with futuristic architecture as its theme. For the kids, theres the Artis Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Europe which houses a research center, planetarium, aquarium, geological museum, a petting area and butterfly garden. Although De Plantage is considered a contemporary area, there are still many historical sites which can be visited such as Rembrandts House, the Dutch Resistance Museum and the Tropenmuseum. After all the sightseeing, one can have lunch at Restaurant De Kas, which was a former greenhouse turned dining area, or at Bloem, a former warehouse near Artis Zoo. There are still so many stores, museums, cafes and parks to discover at de Plantage, and its high time to discover each one.

Take a day drive through Muiden and spend a day at Muiderslot Castle

In the town of Muiden just 15 kilometers away from Amsterdam, the Muiderstlot Castle (from the word and town name muiden which means river mouth ) is set to celebrate their 132nd anniversary as a museum this coming 2010. Muiden means rivermouth and aptly gives a clue to the castles location and Muiderslot was in a good location indeed, it being used as an ammunitions depot during the Medieval Period and as residence to many prominent figures prior to that evident in its collection of medieval arms, painting and armories. Having survived a demolition attempt from the government on several occasions in the year 1954 before the local government unit stepped in and declared the castle as an impotant historical site in Amsterdam and the town of Muiden itself, the castle is now set to invite many tourists to take part in its affairs and history. The rooms from the kitchen down to the bedrooms have been fully restored properly to its original concept as when Count Floris V first built it. From Amsterdam, one can either drive going to the castle or take a bus at Amstel Station which can take one to Muidens town center every 15 minutes.

Visiting the Historic City of Alkmaar

Like Amsterdam, the city of Alkmaar has so many beautiful sights to behold worthy of a day trip away from the more populous Amsterdam. Alkmaar, considered as the cheese capital of Holland, has something to offer everyone aside from cheese but of course they have plenty of that too. There are different historical museums in the city such as the National Beer Museum, the City Museum of Alkmaar, the Holland Cheese Museum and even a Beatles Museum as John Lennons first guitar seems to have been made here. The cheese market in Waagplein cant be found on any other day but Friday. The cheese market is open from April to September, during Fridays, when cheeses are weighed as a form of ceremony to be viewed by spectators. But the actual buying takes place in the specialized stores surrounding the area. There are also many unique boutiques, shops and cafes which arent found in the more tourist-laden gift shops of Amsterdam. After which, relax in their many open terraces and restaurants in the area.

Combining Different Cultures at De Pijp, Amsterdam

Although its reputation as a working class district makes it less popular than many of the other tourist areas in Amsterdam, theres no doubt that De Pijp has so much to offer travelers and locals alike especially when you want a taste of local and foreign culture cultivated in one area that they progress so seamlessly together. De Pijp is considered a melting pot of many nationalities and it widely shows in the several restaurants that offer a fusion of flavors. De Pijp also has the Albert Cuyp Market which sells affordable items from flowers to alternative medicine and is considered as the largest outdoor market in Netherlands. The Albert Cuyp Market is open on weekdays and Saturdays from 9: 00 AM to 6: 00 PM. There are also different restaurants that fuse different flavors to make one unique dish such as Mamouches North African dishes with a Western European twist or Bazar which has Arabian influence paired with North African flavor. De Pijp is also famous for their charming, unique shops where most artists sell their work for great deals.
