5 "Must DOs" of Weight Loss
There are a number of methods, techniques, skills
, and tricks that can insure weight loss. Through trial and error I've discovered that there are a few "must DOs" and "must NOTs" that are essential to a successful and somewhat easier weight loss journey.
The following "must DOs" can help you lose the first of many pounds or help you shed those last couple of inches. Whatever your aim, these tips can assist anyone.
1) Create A Reasonable Plan
Your first day at the gym should not consist of 1000 sit-ups and 2 hours on the treadmill. It IS okay to start out slow. Gradually build your way up to your maximum capacity workout.
If you're truly trying to remain healthy for the long term, create a workout plan that you can see yourself doing at least three times a week.
2) Change Your Lifestyle
If you're the type of person that enjoys the accessibility and affordability of unhealthy snacks (chips, candy, cookies) and/or fast food then you may find losing weight to be a difficult task. It's nearly impossible to give up all of these things at once.
The best thing to do is limit yourself. Instead of fast food everyday, eat it just 4 times a week, then 2 times a week and eventually once a week if at all.
Just like cigarettes and alcohol, food is an addiction. Making drastic changes in a very short amount of time can lead to failure. Pace yourself!
3) Clean Out The Kitchen
If you want to become healthier, the last thing you need is a constant reminder of all the foods you can't eat. Stock your fridge, freezer and pantry with foods that are in line with your diet plan.
People have been raised to eat what is in front of them. This is a hard habit to break, so I suggest that you try to manipulate this habit instead of removing it. Trick yourself without putting a lot of effort into doing so.
What do you do? Buy smaller plates. The less food you can fit on your plate, the less food you will eat. And you still have the illusion that you have had a full plate of food.
4) Monitoring Your Eating
Almost everyone is guilty of overeating. Most people don't realize that they have overeaten until it's too late. It takes time for food to reach your stomach. Before your stomach sends signals that it is full, you have already finished your second plate.
To avoid overeating, dine with friends or family. 99.9% of the time there will be conversation. This distracts you from quickly eating because you chew more times than you normally would (which helps the digestive process).
Your stomach is originally estimated to be the size of your fist, but is stretched with continuous overeating. If 3 slices of chewed pizza can't hypothetically fit in your fist then it probably can't comfortably fit in your stomach.
5) Spoil Your Appetite
Before sitting down to eat a plate of spaghetti, have a snack first. By the time you're ready to eat your main course you will already be halfway full.
The key to spoiling your appetite properly is to spoil it with healthy foods such as unprocessed fruits and vegetables.
Also, drinking lots of water can also help give you that "full" feeling. Not to mention water helps purify your body, and gets rid of toxins. Don't worry about water weight!
