I am the queen of diets. If there was a diet created I probably did it. So from my vast experience I'm going to give you what I feel is the 3 best ways to diet I've used. I am basing this on how much weight I've lost on each one and how easy it was to do.
The first one is the liquid protein diet. I was about 19 years old when I went on this diet. It consisted of 2 protein shakes a day and 1 meal of protein and vegetables. I lost 25 lbs on this diet but I looked like I lost about 40 lbs. It was very effective but I couldn't stay on it for long and eventually I went back to my unhealthy eating habits.
The second one is the low-carb diet. I ate meat and vegetables mainly. It was pretty easy to stay on once I got used to it. I lost 40 lbs on it. However, I really wanted to eat sushi and potato salad and unfortunately those two items were not part of the diet. I gained the weight back very fast and was actually fatter than before I started the low-carb diet. I also, tried to go back on it after awhile and it was difficult. I did find out that because of my yo-yo dieting I had messed up my metabolism and my body wasn't digesting and using the food I ate right away. I was storing it as fat.
The third diet actually is similar to the first diet I was on. When I was 14 I lost 20 lbs over the summer vacation. I was very proud of it and I didn't have any diet or anything. I ate less. I ate smaller bites and ate less at each meal and it worked. Even though, my metabolism has been damaged , I can apply some of what I used back then. And the good new is I found a way of eating and exercising that really fits with me. I think I was on the right track when I was 14. I needed to make small changes, not change my life completely.
