Instead of going for a "low-carb" special or "healthy" menu option, just get what you usually would. But don't eat it all. Take your time and eat slow. As soon as you realize that you're not hungry anymore, stop eating! Take the rest home and eat it later. Overfilling yourself is the biggest problem that you'll have when eating out.
The second pitfall is negative people. We live in a fallen world where sin abounds, and when you decide that you're going to lose weight and actually stick to it, not everyone will be happy for you.
Some people will be filled with envy and not want you to lose weight, which can be very disheartening. But press on! You must know that it's their problem to deal with their own selfishness, and all you can change is yourself!
