There is a natural oil in leather, and the rain has washed it off, and as or if I remember correctly the weatherproofer is supposed to set for 24 hrs before you get them wet. I do know that you can put them in the dryer (on one of the racks designed for a dryer for the air to circulate around the shoes or boots and not tumble them)on low setting. Try putting them in the dryer on low for about 6 minutes and see if they soften up. A little tumbling wont hurt them. It should help them. If this helps, try using a soft bristled brush and brush the suede. As far as the color change, the leather dye was poorly applied in the first place and has run because of the rain.
