Colour and the psychology behind colour use is absolutely fascinating
. Without realising, as a culture we associate certain meanings to colours and as such our favourite colours can say a lot about us as an individual. It can also give us a boost when we need to be more confident or powerful, or help us appear more approachable or friendly. Red clothing gets noticed but can make the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme colour, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red clothing can be uplifting and convey power and energy.
Yellow - Yellow exudes warmth, inspiration and vitality, and is the happiest of all colours. Yellow signifies communication, enlightenment, and spirituality. Yellow people are optimistic, original and creative. They love challenge and are interested in everything. It represents playfulness, light, warmth and an easygoing attitude toward life and is as inviting as a warm, sunny day. If you're a yellow lover, you are a reliable friend and confidant and usually have a sunny disposition.

The colour of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also the colour of passion, romance and femininity.
Pink - Universally representing caring and sharing, pink indicates a strong personality. The affectionate and concerned individual prefers pink. Gently, you offer love, attention and nurturing to those in distress. They are charming, talented and probably romantic. Friendly and sweet with a tendency to be innocent and a little naive, pink people wear their emotions on their sleeves. Research suggested that pink makes people calm and soft hearted.
Pink can appear to be very girlie and sickly sweet. To counteract this, introduce hints of dark charcoal or black to your clothing or interior schemes.
Green - The colour of life represents nature, freshness, security and tranquility. If green is your colour, you seek stability. You are a moral and affectionate individual who is balanced and persistent. Not a risk taker, you prefer to stick with the tried and true. You have a tendency to gossip and love food. A refreshing, calming colour, green has a neutral effect on the human nervous system. It is the easiest colour on the eye and can improve vision. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolise fertility.
Green's various shades have different symbolic meanings: Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth; Emerald green symbolises immortality; Olive green is the colour of peace, natural, woodsy and also the army; Yellow-greens are least preferred colour of consumers.
Blue - Blue brings comfort and serenity to our lives. If blue is your colour, you have a basic need for a calm, harmonious and tension-free existence. Capable, conservative and sensitive to others, you make a loyal and trustworthy friend. Blue people are cool and confident, yet vulnerable. They are trusting and form strong attachments. They have perfectionist tendencies that can make them demanding. Deep blues symbolise sadness, solitude and melancholy. Blue can also be cold and depressing.

The colour of the sky and the ocean, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, and people are more productive in blue rooms.
