Yoga And Pregnancy
Yoga is for everyone, any age, men, women and children but is especially helpful at times of change in our lives
. Pregnancy is a time when extra care should be taken not only in exercise classes but in all activities and living. Yoga will help maintain a healthy and strong body during all stages of pregnancy and help women to deliver their babies in a confident way. The practise of yoga will also maintain a sense of self in a time of change. Postures will be taught with encouragement and ideas to help deliver babies confidently and often without intervention. Yoga can help with anxiety around the birth and possible depression.
Yoga can be an excellent way to reduce stress and prepare your body for labor and delivery while you are pregnant. Many experts insist that practicing yoga during pregnancy should be a requirement for all women. There are numerous benefits to practicing yoga while you are pregnant. If you are in good physical health and listen to your body, yoga will be a wonderful way to help produce a healthy baby and a healthy mom as well.
Mudras and bandhas are very powerful and should be attempted after a year of practicing asanas and pranayama. Asanas are the yogic postures and pranayama refers to the proper breathing technique. The delicate tissues of the lungs can be damaged due to undue strain of these are practiced in advance. When you are used to the internal and external retention of breath for extended periods only then should these practices(mudra and bandhas) be taken up.
A smooth pregnancy and near-painless delivery just about begin to describe the benefits of yoga. Having a healthy baby is every woman's primary concern, and yoga begins working its magic when baby is only a foetus. Obviously, the benefits only multiply as the months advance. An expecting mother who practices yoga has already started making constructive contributions to her baby's physical and mental development.
If you are new to yoga and are looking for a low impact way of exercising the best thing to do is to look for a prenatal yoga class. These classes are designed for pregnant parishioners and you can start them as early in your pregnancy as you want. If you are having morning sickness, you may want to wait until that passes and that usually is the second trimester.
Prenatal Yoga is particularly helpful in later stage of pregnancy. I would suggest all pregnant women to do yoga exercises that would be of immense help in excess inflammation and pain in leg. This particular genre of yoga is aimed at strengthening legs, back muscles, limbs and pelvis. Once these body parts get strengthened the level of pain that you experience while giving birth would be far less than the pain you would have experienced without yoga.
