Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, is one of the four sacred shrines of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 3,293 meters, the temple marks the origin of the holy Yamuna River. Surrounded by snow-covered peaks and hot springs like Surya Kund, the temple offers a unique blend of natural beauty and deep spiritual significance. Devotees trek through rugged terrain to seek blessings and bathe in the sacred waters believed to cleanse sins and grant salvation.
Since there is no direct road, pilgrims have to trek about 6 km from the town of Janki Chatti to reach the temple. It opens every year in summer (around May) and closes in winter due to heavy snowfall.
Yamunotri is not just a temple—it is a spiritual journey filled with faith, devotion, and the beauty of the Himalayas.
