Women Meditation Tips - To Ohm-M Or Not Ohm-M

This is one of the ways to help clear the mind in order to meditate more effectively.
Do you have to do the 'Ohmmm' sound before meditating? No. There are many ways of going into meditation. Using 'Ohmmm' is but one of them.
Is using 'Ohmmm' preferable to other methods of meditation? Not necessarily. It is preferable to some; others find it useless. Long ago, I gave up using the 'Ohmmm' sound, because I found other ways of meditating more beneficial. I have listed below the steps to take for one of my favorite ways to meditate to relieve the day's stress.
1. Make sure no distractions are nearby-no children yelling or laughing; no lawnmowers or other outside distractions going on; no loud street noises; no TV's on; no running water within earshot, etc. You get the idea.
2. Decide quickly where you will do the meditation. It is better to choose a comfortable chair that forces you to sit upright. Do not lie down for this particular meditation.
3. Loosen any restrictive clothing, such as a tight waistline, and remove your shoes.
4. Close the drapes or blinds to keep out as much light as possible.
5. As you relax and close your eyes, mentally tell yourself when you want to come out of the meditation. This can be anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes, sometimes shorter but never longer.
6. Clear your mind of thoughts by taking a couple of deep breaths, then breathe normally. Concentrate on your breathing. In and out...in and out...
7. At times you may fall into a light sleep. Other times, when you open your eyes, all you will know is that a space of time has passed and you will realize you were not asleep, but neither were you completely awake. Don't worry. At the pre-determined time you already set, you should completely awaken. Stretch and relax.
Please note that in this particular kind of meditation you do not take with you mental questions that you want answered, nor do you go into it hoping for some kind of insight that might be revealed to you. Instead, this is merely a quick, relaxing form of meditating that allows the mind and body to rejuvenate after a hard day.
