Will I Lose Weight On A Raw Food Diet? - Nurse's Guide

If you're wondering, will I lose weight on a raw food diet

, let me tell you it's the best, easiest and most healthy way to diet. I lost weight when I went on a raw diet ten years ago, after a breast cancer diagnosis, and cured myself. All my other health issues and health problems went away also - arthritis and fibromyalgia among others.

I lost the pounds in just a few days. It was fast and easy. Of course, I wasn't eating a raw diet to lose weight but to boost my immune system to fight breast cancer. Therefore, the weight loss was a side benefit and a great one at that.

Raw foods are made up of raw fruits, raw vegetables, raw nuts and raw seeds. Foods that are alive, not dead like those that are cooked. Raw meat is usually not considered on this diet and is not a healthy choice for many reasons.

Living foods are alive and contain enzymes, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, a lot of fiber and are very filling if you eat enough of them. Eating just one or two fruits for a total breakfast is not enough; I eat several fruits for breakfast. Lunch can be more fruits, salads or some great raw entrees using raw recipes. Sunflower seed pate is one of my favorites. But there are many choices.

Dinner can consist of a huge salad. A huge salad can be very filling. I'm never hungry and eat a lot of fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds to maintain my weight. I don't want to lose any weight now and eat a lot to keep it on. Therefore, weight gain is never a concern for me nor for most of the people I know who eat predominately raw.

The health benefits of a living diet are many. Most people who start on a living diet find that many of their health issues just disappear. It's a natural detox diet too and cleanses the liver. I, along with others who eat raw, have a lot more energy, sleep well at night and for fewer hours. I've only seemed to need five hours a night or so for the past ten years. I never catch colds or get the flu. So besides losing weight, eating foods that are alive offers many health benefits.

If weight loss is important to you, why not try raw foods? It's a good lifetime diet that is easy to follow, because you make it up yourself. There are many helpful guidelines but ultimately you choose what you want to eat. There are no diet plans or programs to buy. Eating this way is cheap too. There are lots of ways to save money on fruits and veggies. Organic is always best though. Therefore, to answer the question will I lose weight on a raw food diet? The answer is yes!
