There are different types of house surveying to consider, so choose the type of house surveying which is best for you.

One of the main things to think about is the age of the house; When buying older houses you will most definitely need to consider a more comprehensive house surveying of the property before you buy as old houses tend to have more faults. Another tip is to talk to the old owners, ask them if there has been any problems with the house that you should know about. Such questions will help identify what type of survey you will need to perform as there are three different types. These include:

-A Basic Valuation Survey: This housing survey is required by your mortgage lender and is a very basic valuation procedure. Although this is required for all houses it may be suitable for a new house as the only housing survey needed.

-Home Buyers Report: This report is recommended for houses that are between 50-75 years old and will include deeper insights into roofing and areas that are harder to reach. It is half way between basic house surveying and a full Building survey.

-Building Survey: Formerly known as a structural survey, this is the most comprehensive type of house surveying that is recommended on houses that are 75+ years old. This type of inspection can cost up to 1000 pounds, however if the house is older it could potentially have faults that could lead up to much higher costs in the long run.

One other thing to do is to hire a really good removals company that will do everything for you from packing to transportation, to unpacking.
