What Harm A High-salt Diet Does On The Baby?

Salt is considered as the most important spic. In the modern diet, the children gradually take in an increased amount of sodium, lead by both of the increase of the salt in three meals at home and an increase of sodium-containing snacks. Recently, child health experts pointed out that both the health of children and sick children, should not take in too much salt and the main diet should be light.

Salty foods can cause respiratory infections. A recent survey suggests that more and more children suffer from high blood pressure, and the vast majority of these children have often eaten salty foods when they are infants. Salty foods cause blood pressure and then cause edema. In addition, too much salt in childrens diet is also an incentive causing upper respiratory tract infection. The main harms that a high-salt diet does on children are as following:

First, high-salt diet reduces the secretion of saliva and thus makes it more conducive for a variety of bacteria and viruses to survive and develop in the upper respiratory tract.

Second, since the salt has the function of infiltration, it can kill the normal parasite group in upper respiratory tract, causing flora and disease.

Third, the high-salt diet may inhibit the propagation of epithelial cells and make it lose the ability to resistance diseases.

These factors will weaken the resistance of the upper respiratory tract mucosa to the invasion of disease. Whats more, the children naturally have less strong immune system than the adults and easies to catch cold, thus a variety of bacteria and viruses will take advantage of infiltration, resulting in upper respiratory tract infection.

Besides, salt affects zinc absorption. The children's tastes follow that of the parents and if parents are used to salty diet, kids will love to eat salty foods while too much salt directly affects the absorption of zinc, leading to childrens zinc deficiency. But many people have the habit of eating too salty foods salted fish and meat etc. Since amount of sodium these foods are generally high, it is suggested that children should not have them. In addition, they should avoid taking in other foods such as bean paste, chili sauce, mustard, sour pickles, cucumber sauce, soybean paste, fermented bean curd, salted duck eggs, canned food, sausage, pork floss, fried dough sticks and instant noodles, etc. Only by paying attention to the daily details can the parents help their children maintain a healthy diet habit and the good habit will do good to children in all the rest of their life.
