What Are The Benefits Of A Baby Registry?

Many people debate whether or not a baby registry is a good idea

. With friends and family scattered far and wide these days, more and more people are coming around to the idea that it is actually a great idea for ensuring you don't get duplicate gifts for baby and that you do get exactly what you want for your precious little one. There are other reasons that a baby registry is an excellent idea and they are all quite practical for both the parent of the baby and those who want to buy gifts.

First, a baby registry can help ensure that you don't get thirty strollers and have no cribs for your baby to sleep in. You can keep track of gifts as they arrive and mark them off the registry as something you have. Friends and family can choose to get together and pitch in for special items you may not be able to buy for yourself otherwise, and you'll all know that you are getting exactly what you want rather than settling for something that doesn't suit your needs or plans. But registries go beyond kid's furniture and baby accoutrement.

Second, registering for baby gifts lets friends and family off the hook for worries over recall lists and other information they may not be up to date on if they aren't in the market for these same items for themselves. Many people tend to stop keeping an eye out for things like recall lists on cribs, strollers, and baby toys when it is no longer pertinent to their immediate family or situation. This leaves you to worry about those details and lets them know what your wishes are in baby furniture, children's clothing, and other items for baby.

Finally, participating in a baby registry gives you the opportunity to share with your family the things you'd really like to have for your baby and give them the opportunity to help you get those things. Registering gives people of all financial situations the opportunity to give you something you want or need for your baby. While it's great to include a few "wishful thinking" types of items for your baby it is even better to include things that are needed rather than only what is wanted. Your family wants to give you both but they need to know what they are so they can make the right decisions for them as well.
