Every reception table at a wedding has a centerpiece, tableware and linens and they're more or less decorated the same way. There's usually a big vase of flowers, candles or confetti in the middle or sometimes small cakes that look like smaller versions of the wedding cake. Then there are the chairs that usually have fabric tied around the back to make them blend in with the table.
There are of course other ways to give the tables a unique, out of the box look. Many people use glass pieces to decorate the table and candles are one of the more popular table accessories for a wedding. What few people do is actually make the tableware and the table covers part of the dcor. They're both picked out with a lot of care but they're just meant to be on the table as opposed to being part of the wedding arrangements. The wedding china, the linen and the centerpieces should all complement each other. As opposed to just having white or ivory colored table covers, add variations from the centerpiece. Instead of tying fabric around the chairs; use cushions to make them more comfortable and to make the color more obvious.
Everyone uses candy or candles and flowers for the tables but very few use edible centerpieces for their wedding arrangements. Candy is usually as far as anyone will go to having an edible centerpiece. There are other kinds of edible centerpieces like fresh fruit arrangements and fruit bouquets that give the table a classier look and offer lots of colors to work with.
