It was a beautiful ceremony and you got through it and the reception without a hitch
, you wore a beautiful gown, and you thought the wedding was perfect until the pictures got back and saw that you looked awful in them. You want your photos to be as beautiful as the memories you have, but how do you accomplish this?
One of the things you should avoid is scrimping on your photographer. Who will remember if your bouquets had daisies or rare and exotic orchids? But years from now, your great grand children will be looking at your wedding album. These are heirlooms, not just souvenirs. You therefore need to spend on them.
Steer clear from hairstyles and veils that are complicated. You would be too busy to check the mirror because you'll be walking around and talking to guests. You don't want your bangs plastered to your face or your veil hanging to the side. It would be better to keep it simple and elegant. If a dramatic veil is what you are looking for, then try to find a style that will allow you to detach part of it so you will be left with something less cumbersome at the reception.
You can either buy or make a pouch or clutch bag that will match your gown. Include some pressed powder, lipstick, blush, and blotting paper inside. Your maid of honor can carry it or keep it handy for you.
Wear waterproof mascara. Chances are, you will cry a lot. It's guaranteed. Black mascara will run and leave unflattering raccoon eyes.
Try not to wear heavy powder eyeshadow. Don't forget that you will cry. You will walking around in heavy makeup, a thick gown, and lots of guests milling around you so you will surely sweat. Powder smears and cakes, and ends up under your eyes.
Don't wear sheer lipstick. You will end up eating it off. But if you do, at least wear a matte or semi-matte base and the sheer lipstick can be applied as a top coat. You need to blot it well otherwise it will end up on your teeth and around your mouth.
Avoid wearing heavy and shimmery makeup unless it's applied by a professional makeup artist. This will not photograph well under lighting conditions that are less than perfect. Only apply them on the eyes if you want this makeup.
Soft and romantic is what bridal music should be. The most flattering are natural pinks and you will really look like a blushing bride. Unless blended well and kept close to the eyeline, you should avoid hard-edged contouring and dramatic browns. Sticking to the pinks and brownish pinks is also a must when it comes to lipsticks. Bright reds, when worn against a white dress, would look too harsh.
You'll need good foundation that lasts long but doesn't cake. Applying moisturizer first and letting it set is the trick. This will prime your skin. Apply a matte or cream foundation, then concealer. To dust powder foundation, use a brush.
You need to take good photographs right after the ceremony because during this time, everyone's makeup is still intact. Having solo shots, couple shots, and group photos with your entourage, friends, and family members is a must.
How asking for a few black and white photographs? A soft and romantic feel is what they seem to have.
If you'll be having outdoor photographs, light is most flattering in the morning and at dusk. Outdoor shots from 11 am to 2 pm should be avoided because everyone will just be squinting.
