Wedding Invitations Etiquette

While designing wedding invitation cards, an important aspect overlooked by most people

, is the Wedding Invitation Etiquette. While it seems to be one among the things to focus on for most, this is extremely crucial, since a wedding invitation lacking courtesy and etiquette can project the hosts negatively. Read on to find out more on how you can incorporate the basics in Wedding Invitations Etiquette and impress your invitees with your wedding invitations.

1. Presentation Basics: When sending out wedding invitations, it is essential to understand the basics of presentation. These include the wedding invitation itself, the reception invitation, the response card, the wedding invitation envelope and other decorative embellishments such as envelope seals, ribbons, etc. Direction cards or maps leading the guests to the wedding venue are also a great idea to make the wedding invitation thoughtful and complete.

2. Wording: Adhering to the Wedding Invitation Etiquette tradition, that has been followed since the beginning of time, the Wedding Invitation must begin with a carefully worded opening statement and should include the names of whoever serves as the host. The order in which the names of the bride and the groom appear on the wedding invitation depends on who the card is being sent out by. Whether the brides family or the grooms family are hosting the wedding, the name of the bride always comes before the grooms on the Wedding Invitation. If both the families are hosting the event together or if the couple are hosting the wedding themselves, the names of the couples appear side by side on the Wedding Invitation.

3. Children: If your fiance or your children are going to be present at the wedding, it is always advisable to list their names in the wedding invitation. If you are among those, who may not want the guests to bring their children at the wedding, then state this in advance in the Wedding Invitation, so that there are no uncomfortable situations arising later at the wedding.

4. Dress Code: If you have designed your wedding to revolve around a certain theme and you expect the guests to adhere to such a theme then make this clear in the wedding invitation itself. Your expectations with respect to the dress code for the wedding must be listed in the wedding invitation itself in order to give the guests enough time to prepare themselves and ensure a smooth event for you as well.

5. Gifts: If taking and cherishing gifts from your guests is not a comfortable thought for you, stating this in the wedding invite would be a good idea, to let the guests know that you only solicit their good wishes in the form of their blessings and no more. It would also be a good idea to let your guests know if you would like them to donate to charity or for a noble cause, which you, support as a couple. Although, suggesting gifts may still not be considered appropriate in most wedding invitations, it is always best to keep your guests in the open about it.
