Wedding Gifts - 5 Gifts to Avoid

A wedding is one of the most important days in a couple's lives

. The couple spends months trying to prepare for this day. This is the day to create memorable memories that they can cherish for their years ahead as a married couple. From the bride's walk in the isle to the wedding reception, the cake, speeches and dancing. And let's not forget the wedding gifts. You don't want to be remembered as the guest who gave the worst wedding gift ever, do you?

If you have no idea what to give to the soon-to-be married couple, avoid yourself this humiliating situation and know the worst gifts you can give.

* Discount on marriage counseling. Seriously? They are just starting out their new life as husband and wife. You can't possibly be implying they will need help about their marriage anytime soon. It's true that every marriage has its problems but giving a marriage counseling certificate means you're expecting that their relationship won't last.

* Adult related gifts. It's like you're insulting their sex life. Let them buy their own. Well, there are some people that might appreciate it but on average, this wouldn't make an appropriate gift.

* Obvious re-gifting. Giving the newlyweds the gift someone gave you even though it's new or unused is always a bad thing to do. The idea of giving the couple a gift is to honor the start of their new life together. Well, there is an exception to this rule. A family heirloom or any vintage items make a great wedding gift.

* Items the couple wouldn't use. It would be a total waste the couple can't use your gift for anything. It might end up in their parent's house or in the trash. The ideal thing to give is appliances. This is something that will surely use. You can check the wedding registry to check for items that they would love to receive.

* Not giving anything at all. Just being invited to a wedding is already an honor. The couple chose to share with you their big day. Of course they are not expecting something in return from you but the least you can do is to be thoughtful and give them a wedding present.

You don't have to buy the most expensive item on the wedding registry. Just look for something that is practical and that they can use. A gift that will give newlyweds an idea that you thought about your gift carefully, something that is for them and a gift that you would want to receive yourself.
