Anyone who has been on a diet for any amount of time reaches a place where the weight loss either stops or slows down a great deal. You may even gain a pound or two. When you reach this point, be encouraged that there are ways to break weight loss plateau.
Sometimes when you have been on a diet plan for a length of time, you may get lazy. Take a hard look at your diet to make sure you are still doing the things that brought you success when you began. Are your portions the right size or have they inched up a little bit? It may be that you need to go back to weighing your food rather than just guessing at the portion size. You may be eating a little more than you realize.
Make sure that you are eating enough. When your body thinks it is not getting enough food, it will begin to store up fat. While you are anxious to lose your weight as quickly as you can, you will have more success in keeping it off if you lose weight slowly and make changes that will last a lifetime.
The secret to keep losing weight is to keep your body guessing. Change the amount of meals you eat every day. Cut down on your breakfast, lunch and dinner and add in two small meals. Eat fewer calories a day or two a week and add them to another day.
After you have your weight loss plan on track, consider what you are doing about exercising. Begin now to exercise if you're not already. If you already had an exercise routine try turning it up a notch. Add some more time to your daily walk or instead of walking go for a swim. It is also possible that you have been losing pounds and gaining muscle. Even if your weight is staying the same or even going up a little bit, you may have lost inches. Keep in mind muscle outweighs fat.
Remember that reaching a plateau when dieting is normal. Even though you may be frustrated, make a few revisions in your diet plan and stick with it. You will soon be losing weight again.About the Author:
