Walking, what a great exercise--but do you know what, most people won`t do it.

Losing weight is possible without exercise, but it`s SO much easier and quicker when you do move about.

When I taught weight loss for a well known group, the second half of the class was an aerobic session, but at least three quarters of my clients made their excuses and left. It never ceases to amaze me how reluctant folks are to do some form of exercise. Take a look the next time you`re in a department store, healthy people will be queuing to use the elevator rather than take the stairsand that`s just to go down.

If you don't fancy the idea of getting sweaty and out of breath, that`s fine, but these body`s were meant to move and increasing the heart rate a little will give some great benefits.

You don't have to put on a leotard or a swimsuit, you don't need any special equipment (apart from decent footwear) and you can do it anywhere. So what`s stopping you from getting up and walking to lose weight?

Apart from losing fat, you'll notice that your bottom half will tone up, you'll have more energy, feel better about yourself and you won`t crave the stodgy foods that you may be craving now.

If you don't fancy walking alone, why not join a club or a rambling organization? I think you will be surprised how easy it is to lose the weight once you commit to a regular exercise routine. And that`s what you must do. Write down a plan detailing your walking routine--anything that is documented stands more chance of being carried out.

As with anything, the first step is always the worse, but you will soon fitten up and find that you are able to tackle more challenging walks. When you do take that first step, you should be really proud of yourself, because while most people talk about walking to lose weight, there are very few that actually do anything about it.
