Door Hangers are a great media selection to advertise and market your business without having to invest a ton of money
. Youll need to invest time and energy, but they dont require a bunch of cash. Many businesses had used door hangers but they went away from using them for some reason. I don't know why. Maybe it was just too much work for them, hour by hour. But the recent economy and the situations with the recession has brought back some things that people were doing that were very, very effective.I just got this one the other day from Domino's. It was a real nice color piece that somebody punched a hole in, and then they just put a rubber band on it and hung it. Now my guess isand I didn't see who hung thisbut it was on my door the other day. My guess is they paid somebody a few bucks an hour to go out and hang these in the neighborhood.
The next one that I got was from the Culligan guy. So I got a door hanger from the Culligan guy. Now the Culligan guy was brilliant. He included in his a little bottle for a water sample. He also had an offer for a water system. And he also has one for a water cooler; so if I had a water system, already He had a bag of free salt for me. So this is on his continuity program, where he delivers every month to you.
He had a referral coupon in the bag, even though I wasn't even a customer. Very smart. And this goes backand this is where it was brillianthe actually has the bottle of water, and he gives you instructions on this.
It says, "Fill the enclosed water sample with tap water from your kitchen sink, complete the questions at the bottom of this card, place the bottle and the questionnaire, hang the bag back onto your front doorknob and call this phone number for pickup." So on the bottom, there's a questionnaire that actually helps him determine what my water needs might be.
But now, he's got some lead generation, and I would guess he's got less than, I don't know, a dollar in this. He's out in my neighborhood and handing these out. He's getting great leads for his water systems, salt and all the other products he sells.
And then a third one was a combination where many businesses combine together and probably paid one person to go deliver these. There is a fitness centers in the bag; there's Subway; there's an oil and lube center; there's a coffee shop; an organic food store; a few more restaurants; a yoga center; a chiropractor.
In the old days, many people were doing door hangers, and they got away from them. I'm not sure why. But for many businesses, this is a great strategy because number one, it gets delivered. It's on the door and every family is going to take it off their door. Make sure you check with the legal folks in your community because in some communities I know that you can't do door hangers.
Finally, door hangers are a great way to generate new leads and get telephone calls to your business.
